Allen Police Issue Warning Over Car Break-Ins

Police remind people to not leave valuables in vehicles

Allen police are warning people about an organized crime ring that targets high-end neighborhoods after a series of car break-ins over the weekend.

According to a police release on CitizenObserver.com, visitors to the community pool on Twin Creeks Drive reported smashed car windows and stolen purses.

In most years, motor vehicle break-ins tend to increase in warmer months. Allen police are also reminding people about a crime organization out of Florida that is believed to target gyms, day cares and pools in high-end neighborhoods in North Texas.

Plano police issued a similar alert about car break-ins there less than two weeks ago.

Pool-goers on Tuesday said they were more cautious about leaving personal property unattended.

"I usually leave my purse right here, but to save myself the trouble of a broken window, I brought everything with me today," Becky Price said.

"Today, I made sure I brought my wallet with me instead of just hiding it under the floorboard," Yum Hoffman said.
