Allen ISD Superintendent Dr. Lance Hindt has been named the sole finalist to lead Katy ISD, near Houston.
"Hindt was raised in Katy and graduated from Katy Taylor High School and his family still lives there," Allen ISD announced on Facebook. "We are sad to see he and his family go but we are excited for them in this new opportunity."
Hindt's first day as Katy ISD's superintendent will be Aug. 1, the Houston Chronicle reported Friday.
Per Texas law, Katy ISD must wait a 21-day grace period before hiring Hindt.
Before coming to Allen in Feb. 2014, Hindt served as superintendent of Stafford MSD, near Houston.
