Alleged Gunman Held in Beaumont Courthouse Shooting

Gunman wounded in shootout in Beaumont

A 41-year-old man is jailed without bond on murder charges after he opened fire outside a Southeast Texas courthouse, killing one woman and wounding three others.

The gunman, Bartholomew Granger, also was wounded Wednesday in the downtown shootout in Beaumont.

Authorities say among the victims was Granger's 20-year-old daughter, who had testified against him in a case. She was to have continued testifying. Police say her mother also was among the wounded.

The woman killed was a 79-year-old who police say was a random victim of dozens of shots fired outside the courthouse.
