Accused Serial Burglar Corey Lee Caldwell Indicted in Six Burglaries

Police say 42-year-old Corey Lee Caldwell is perhaps one of the most prolific burglars to ever work in North Texas, responsible for perhaps 200 break-ins attributed to the "Evening Burglar."

Caldwell was indicted by a Collin County grand jury Tuesday on six counts of burglary of a habitation. Last month, he was indicted by a Dallas County grand jury on five counts of the same charge, DallasNews.com reports.

He was released from prison in May 2014 after serving four years of a 60-year prison sentence, but was arrested again in February 2015 after a police task force set up a sting operation in Coppell.

"Police, Corey get on the ground," yelled one of the officers who confronted him as he left one of the houses.

According to his arrest warrant, a state police helicopter equipped with night vision equipment watched from above as he broke into several houses in Coppell.

Now, indicted on six counts related to those burglaries, Caldwell will face six second-degree felonies in a Collin County courtroom.

A trial date has not yet been set. He is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail on $1 million bond.

NBC 5's Scott Gordon, Ray Villeda and Frank Heinz contributed to this report.
