AAA Texas Holds Teen Driver Safety Fair

The AAA Texas and the city of Irving held a Teen Driver Safety Fair to provide information and awareness to the community about the importance of safe driving.

The fair included interactive exhibits and take-home information for pre-permit teens. Family members that have lost loved ones to car crashes also attended and told their story and how it has impacted their life.

Among them, Jessica Melott, her mother was one of the 13 people that died in the First Baptist Church bus of New Braunfels that was struck by a distracted driver that was under the influence of drugs.

According to the AAA Texas, car crashes are the leading cause of death in the nation. The Texas Department of Transportation listed 312 teen drivers who were involved in fatal crashes and 1,929 in crashes resulting in serious injuries.
