A 23-year-old woman from Coppell is the New Miss Texas.
The reigning Miss Dallas, DaNae Couch earned the new title at the Miss Texas Pageant at the Allen Event Center on Saturday night.
The competition will be broadcast on NBC DFW Nonstop (channel 5.2), starting on Sunday, July 8.
There were two titles up for grabs: Miss Texas 2012—with 39 contestants—and Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen 2012—with 49 contestants—both of whom will go on to compete in the respective Miss America pageant later this year.
Contestants competed in categories such as private interview, lifestyle and fitness—which includes swimwear—talent, evening gown, and the make-or-break onstage question.
Couch received a $10,000 cash scholarship and the use of an Infiniti from Grubbs Infiniti.
The Miss Texas competition exists for the purpose of providing personal and professional opportunities for young Texas women and promoting their voice in culture, politics and community. For more information, check out their website.
