Suspect Arrested After Beating 77-Year-Old Man: Police

Police arrested a man they say is responsible for beating an elderly man in Fort Worth.

Ronald Eugene Hunter, 56, is charged with aggravated robbery of the elderly, after police say he assaulted a 77-year-old man. 

Police said at about 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, the victim was inside a convenience store at 1525 East Berry Street when Hunter struck up a conversation with him.

The victim was taking out cash at the ATM and Hunter asked for $5 bucks, police said. 

The victim gave him the money and then Hunter offered him a ride, which he accepted.

After getting in the car, police said the victim was beaten by Hunter and another unidentified person in the car, and then dumped at another location.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and is being treated for his injuries.

Police were able to identify Hunter through tips from the public. Hunter was arrested by the FWPD Fugitive Unit and U.S. Marshals. 

Police did not say anything more about the other unidentified person in the vehicle.
