$5 Million Donated for Mounted Warrior Museum in Texas

A supporter of the proposed Mounted Warrior Museum in Central Texas has donated $5 million for the project planned just outside the main gate of Fort Hood.

The Killeen Daily Herald on Monday reported the donor is from the area and wishes to remain anonymous.

The National Mounted Warfare Foundation is behind the effort for the 66,000-square-foot-museum to honor soldiers, their accomplishments and their sacrifices for duty. Organizers say phase one requires another $21 million for full funding.

The museum, slated for completion in 2019, will recognize soldiers who rode into battle on horseback plus those who later served in tanks and other military operations.
