North Texans will soon be able to get traffic updates on-the-go just by calling 511.
The North Central Texas Council of Governments will update cities on the new system.
Drivers can get travel times, road conditions and basic weather information from the number.
The program is centered around the U.S. 75 corridor, but will also have information for the nine air quality nonattainment areas of DFW which includes all or part of Parker, Johnson, Tarrant, Denton, Dallas, Ellis, Collin, Rockwall and Kaufman counties.
The NCTCOG is planning to soft launch the service this summer.
