SPCA Seizes 35 Dogs

Animals neglected in Van Zandt County

Thirty-five dogs were seized by the SPCA of Texas Friday morning from a property where the animals suffered from neglect.

The SPCA and the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Department had received complaints of animal cruelty on Aug. 20, which prompted their visit to the Grand Saline property.

Once there they discovered dogs that were kept in a feces-filled, urine-soaked trailer on the property and small, filthy outdoor pen. The animals didn’t receive proper food, water or care either.

The dogs (pictures in the gallery on the left) were taken to the Perry Animal Care Center in McKinney where they will receive care until a custody hearing takes place.
