4 Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on I-35 Near Austin

Authorities say four people have died in a wreck caused by a motorist driving the wrong way on Interstate 35 south of Austin.[[369471232,C]]

The early Friday morning crash involved three vehicles and was triggered by one traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-35 in Kyle.

Officials said two men, a woman and a baby in a minivan died at the scene shortly after 1 a.m. Two other children in the minivan were hospitalized with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The driver of a Honda Civic traveling in the wrong direction was hospitalized in critical condition.

The driver of a pickup truck also involved in the wreck was treated at the scene.

Northbound lanes of I-35 were closed for several hours, but have since reopened.
