5 Vehicles Involved in a Deadly Wrong-Way Crash

A woman was killed when a driver appeared to deliberately head into oncoming traffic, speed up, and slam into four other vehicles, police said.

It happened Friday evening in east Fort Worth along Trinity Boulevard.

Police said the driver of a van was heading east when witnesses reported he suddenly entered west-bound lanes.

A woman passenger in a sport utility vehicle that was hit head-on was pronounced dead at the scene.

The van driver went to a hospital in a medical helicopter. Three others were injured.

"At this time drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor," said Fort Worth police Cpl. Tracey Knight. "However, our traffic  investigative detectives are doing a blood draw -- a mandatory blood draw of the driver -- and  the toxicology will be done."

The identities of the van driver, the person who was killed, and the others have not been released.

NBC 5's Scott Gordon contributed to this report.
