4 Killed, 5 Injured in Head-On Vehicle Collision

All four occupants of a sedan were killed when an oncoming pickup truck drifted into the car's lane and collided head-on with it on a South Texas rural road.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the crash happened about 5:30 p.m. Monday on Texas 35 near Farm Road 774, about 55 miles northeast of Corpus Christi. Trooper Charlie Ramirez says the truck was southbound when it drifted into the northbound lane and slammed into the sedan.

Two women and two girls in the car were killed, while the five in the truck were injured. Ramirez said those injuries were taken to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

No identities had been released Monday night.
