4 Accused of Raising Money for Al-Qaida, 2 Arrested

One of four men accused of raising money for a known al-Qaida leader was arrested outside Dallas Thursday.

No further details about the arrest were released.

Federal prosecutors said the four men with Ohio ties worked together to send money and other assistance to al-Qaida leader Anwar al-Awlaki. U.S. officials linked him to the planning and execution of several attacks targeting American and Western interests before he was killed in a drone strike in 2011.

Two of the men charged with raising money for al-Qaida have been living in the United Arab Emirates and aren't in custody.

The fourth man, 40-year-old Sultane Room Salim, of Ohio, appeared in federal court in Toledo Thursday. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was ordered to remain in jail.

Court documents don't list attorneys for them.
