3 Juveniles Steal City of Dallas Water Department Van, Lead Police on Chase

Police said three people were arrested after stealing a City of Dallas Water Department vehicle and leading officers on a chase Thursday night.

Dallas police said three juveniles stole the city vehicle at gunpoint near the intersection of South Lancaster and Cedardale roads at about 8:20 p.m.

Officers spotted the vehicle near the intersection of Marsalis and Illinois avenues and began pursuit.

Police said officers followed the juveniles south along Interstate 35E to Red Oak, back on northbound I-35E into Lancaster, east on Belt Line Road and then north on Texas 342.

Shortly after crossing Interstate 20, officials said Dallas County Sheriff's deputies spiked the vehicle, causing the driver to crash in the 6200 block of Lancaster Road at about 9:30 p.m.

Police said they took the three juveniles into custody.

No injuries were reported.
