3 Drivers Report Being Targeted, Shot at in South Dallas

One injured in string of early-morning shootings

Dallas police are investigating a number of shootings that took place early Monday morning where drivers were targeted on the city's south side.

According to police, three drivers reported being shot at between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. while driving on S. Hampton Road between W. Illinois Avenue and Loop 12.

The three victims, one of whom was injured and transported to Methodist Hospital in good condition, provided the following descriptions to police:

  • Silver or gray pickup truck
  • Black matte finish pickup truck with oversized tires
  • White pickup truck

Due to the varying reports of the shooter's vehicle, police could not confirm if the shootings were related. However, they said due to the time frame and geographic proximity it's likely they are.

Police added the shooter's vehicle may have damage to the rear passenger side tire or quarter panel. One victim described a person wearing dark gloves and a mask as the shooter.

There is no known motive or apparent relationship between the victims; there were an unknown number of occupants reported to be in the shooter's vehicle.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information called into Crime Stoppers that leads to the arrest and indictment for this felony offense and other felony offenses.
