Flower Mound police have arrested and charged Daniel Fink, 40, with the murder of his estranged wife at her home early Thursday morning.
According to police, officers were called to the home of Aide Fink, 50, on the 3300 block of Heather Glen Drive at about 12:20 a.m. When they arrived, they found that the woman had been shot while her three children were unharmed.
Aide Fink was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died.
Three children, ages 7, 11 and 16, were in the house when their mother was shot, police said, but it is not known if they witnessed the shooting. The woman's 16-year-old called 911 to report the shooting.
The children are now in the custody of Child Protective Services.
Officers told NBC 5 there have been prior calls to the Fink's home, but no charges or criminal offenses were determined to have occurred regarding these calls.
Court records show the couple separated on Aug. 1 and Aide Fink filed for divorce three days later.

Her divorce petition was served to Daniel Fink at work at DFW Airport Terminal D on Aug. 25 at 3:30 p.m.
His attorney filed a counter-petition Wednesday, which included a request for a restraining order against his wife, protecting their assets and keeping the children in Texas.
A hearing was scheduled in the case on Thursday, but court records show it was cancelled.
The Flower Mound Police Department confirmed that Daniel Fink is employed by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection section of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Neighbor Brian Freed said he was shocked when he learned of the shooting and said the woman was a great friend and a wonderful mother who would have done anything for her kids.
"A neighbor you’ve known for several years, a good family, is not a family anymore," Freed said. "You have three kids that won't grow up with a mom or a dad. You're sad for them.
