2nd Capital Murder Suspect Caught in Beaumont Clerk Killing

Beaumont police say a second suspect has been arrested in last month's fatal shooting of a convenience store clerk.

Police say 19-year-old John David Johnson was captured late Friday night in Spring, near Houston.

Johnson was sought on a capital murder warrant in the April 29 slaying of Mettha Chandra Kuruppu of Beaumont during an attempted robbery.

Another suspect, 19-year-old Chandler Kyle Ventress of Beaumont, surrendered Tuesday and remains in custody on a capital murder charge.

Jefferson County jail records Saturday did not immediately list bond or an attorney for Johnson.
