A 23-year-old Mesquite woman is behind bars, accused of fatally shooting a 36-year-old man on Sunday, Mesquite police say.

Police were called to the 1600 block of Wesley Drive on Sunday, Jan. 6 after people reported seeing a body in the yard.

The victim was later identified as Juan Rivera Garcia, of Mesquite.

Police arrested 23-year-old Kailey Elizabeth Marnell, also of Mesquite, in connection with Garcia's murder.

Police have not released the motiviation for the shooting or said what led them to identify Marnell as a suspect.

Marnell was booked into jail, charged with one count of murder, and her bond was set at $250,000.

Garcia leaves behind a wife and two children.
