$2.2M in Heroin Found in Fayette County During Traffic Stop

Authorities in Fayette County have discovered $2.2 million worth of heroin during a traffic stop.

According to authorities, deputies seized 22 kilograms of heroin Thursday. Fayette County Sheriff's Office said police dog Lobos smelled the drugs hidden in the frame of a trailer pulled by a pickup during a traffic stop on Interstate 10.

The sheriff's office said the driver, 31-year-old Jose Flores, and passenger, 26-year-old Isela De Ita, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

It was not immediately clear if the suspects have an attorney.
