1 Dead After Semitrailer Wrecks on I-35E in Dallas

A wreck involving a pickup truck and a semitrailer on Interstate 35E left two people injured and blocked multiple lanes of traffic Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Dallas Fire-Rescue officials said the pickup lost control, slid across three lanes of traffic and collided with the semitrailer on northbound I-35E near Oak Lawn Avenue at about 5 a.m.

The 18-wheeler pushed the truck for a few hundred feet before crashing through a guardrail and stopping on a grassy area off the freeway.

One person in the pickup truck, who has not yet been identified, died as a result of the crash, according to Dallas County Sheriff's Department spokesman Paul Reyna.

Two other people in the pickup were transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital. Their conditions are not yet known.

The driver and a passenger in the 18-wheeler were not injured.

Three lanes of I-35E were closed for more than an hour.
