Police told NBC 5 the thieves ripped an ATM from the floor a Shell gas station in the 2000 block of northbound State Highway 360 at about 3:45 a.m.

No one was working inside the store at the time of the theft, an employee told NBC 5.

The thieves also smashed coolers and a beverage refrigerator inside the store, an employee said.

The thieves took off in two getaway vehiclesโ€“ a white Dodge pickup truck, and silver Dodge Charger.

Police located the truck with the ATM in the bed of the pickup and gave chase. The ATM fell out at NW Green Oaks and Fielder and the driver stopped the truck and ran. He was never caught.

While searching for that man, Arlington officers spotted the Dodge Charger. Police believe the driver was trying to pick up the man who was on the run.

Officers chased the Charger back into Dallas where the driver was captured. Police identified the man arrested as 24-year-old Therone Drake, of Dallas.

No injuries were reported in the incident. Both vehicles and the ATM were recovered and are being processed by police.

NBC 5's Ellen Bryan contributed to this report.
