Two bodies have been recovered from a rain-swollen Texas river after a small fishing boat was found damaged at the bottom of a 40-foot spillway.
Officials say the bodies of a man and a woman were located Tuesday in the San Jacinto River, which hours earlier topped flood stage. The Lake Houston spillway has buoys warning about the drop.
The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department on Wednesday said high water from last week's heavy rain likely was a factor in the accident. Spokesman Tom Harvey says there's usually little or no water going over the spillway and evidence points to the boat going over.
Harvey says a trailer found parked above the spillway was registered to a woman believed to be a victim.
