Authorities in Houston say three people are dead, including a child, in what investigators believe is a murder-suicide.
Investigators say a married couple and their 5-year-old child were discovered in their Houston-area apartment on Friday afternoon. Their names were not immediately released.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says relatives of a 36-year-old man and 37-year-old woman tried to contact the family earlier this week. They then entered the apartment and found the couple and their 5-year-old daughter dead in a bedroom.
Gonzalez says a firearm was found near the man's body, indicating to detectives that he might have been the aggressor. Investigators say the man had not shown up for work on Friday, but it was not immediately clear if he had been at his job earlier in the week.
