Pregnant Teen, Unborn Child Dead After Head-On Wreck

Authorities said two women and an unborn child died and two other people were injured in a wrong-way wreck in Fort Worth Tuesday night.

Police said a woman, identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner as 22-year-old Samantha Goude, was driving a 2003 Dodge Intrepid east in the westbound lanes of Interstate 30 when she crashed head-on into a 2001 Infinity sedan near Beach Street at about 10:30 p.m.

Authorities said three people in the Infinity were taken to John Peter Smith Hospital. The pregnant driver, identified as 18-year-old Sabrina Fernandez, and her unborn child, died shortly after arrival.

Fernandez's parents are devastated. She was their only child, and earlier in the day they had dropped her off at her boyfriend’s house.

“Before we left she stopped and goes, 'Mom, dad, I love you. And those were her last words to us.' I think that’s what really hurts. That was taken away from us,” said father Tommy Davila.

“I don’t know how I am going to make it without her,” said mother Donna Davila.

Tommy Davila said doctors delivered the baby by an emergency C-section, but the baby did not survive.

“I was ready to be a grandpa. I was looking forward to it,” said Tommy Davila.

Their family was planning to go to Corpus Christi to see relatives for Christmas, but their relatives will now be coming here to North Texas.

A 17-year-old male, who the Davilas said was their daughter’s boyfriend, and a 28-year-old female, who were passengers in the Infinity, remain at the hospital in critical condition.

Goude died at the scene, police said. NBC 5 has learned she has a criminal history in several cities in North Texas.

Police said they don't think Goude was intoxicated. They are trying to determine why she was driving the wrong way.

Editor's note: Sources initially said Fernandez was 22. The Tarrant County medical examiner later confirmed she was 18 when they identified her.  Additionally, Samantha Goude was initially reported to be Samantha White -- we regret the error.
