2 SE Texas Deputies Shot

Two sheriff's deputies have been taken to hospitals after they were shot in a southeast Texas neighborhood.

The shooting happened about 6 a.m. Tuesday in the Woodland Hills subdivision, about 5 miles north of Dayton and 40 miles northeast of Houston.

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office says both deputies have been taken to hospitals, but their injuries weren't thought to be life-threatening. Both were wearing protective vests.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unclear, and no arrest has been made. However, a special-tactics unit from Baytown has been dispatched to the scene, 25 miles northeast of Baytown.
