$2 Million Powerball Ticket Claimed in the Nick of Time

One week before it was set to expire, a Sherman group has claimed a $2 million second-tier Powerball prize.

The Texas Lottery Commission says MCRP Management Trust, Rachel Payne, Trustee, of Sherman came forward with the ticket purchased at The Gas Station at 306 S. Broad Street in Saint Jo.

The Nov. 12, 2014 Quick Pick matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn (37-39-51-52-55), but not the red Powerball number (11). Because the Power Play feature was added, the ticket automatically increased to $2 million.

Prizes must be claimed no later than 180 days from the draw date, so the ticket was set to expire on May 11.

Besides matching all five white ball numbers and the red Powerball number, there are eight other ways to win non-jackpot prizes ranging from $4 to $1 million or up to $2 million if the ticket includes Power Play. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are approximately one in 31. The overall odds of winning the jackpot prize are one in 175,223,510.
