Lockdown at Two Mesquite Schools Over

Two Mesquite schools were placed on lockdown Monday afternoon due to police activity in the area.

According to officials, police were searching for a felony fraud suspect out of University Park.

When the suspect was located in Mesquite, a short chase began. Then, the suspect bailed out of the vehicle and fled on foot in the Ridgeview Street area in Mesquite.

Nearby Wilkinson Middle School in the 2100 block of Crest Park Drive and Tisinger Elementary in the 1700 block of Hillcrest Street were placed on lockdown as a precaution. 

Officers are still searching for the suspect at this time.
