2 Locomotives in Water After Train Derails Near Sanger

Officials said they are investigating what caused a train to derail in Cooke County early Friday morning.

BNSF Railway Director of Public Affairs Joe Faust said four locomotives and 17 cars went off the tracks about a mile south of Valley View at 1:18 a.m.

Two of the locomotives went into nearby Spring Creek, which feeds into Lake Ray Roberts, according to Faust.

Four BNSF crew members were transported to Denton Regional Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, officials said. Their conditions are not known.

Officials have not determined the cause of the derailment, but Faust said they are looking into reports of high wind in the area as a factor.
