2 Children Hit by Stray Bullets in Houston: Police

Houston police say a 9-year-old girl and her 7-year-old brother have been shot by stray bullets after a suspected drug deal.

Police spokesman John Cannon says they were walking with their mother around 4 p.m. Wednesday near an HEB supermarket.

Police say the shooting occurred between two vehicles parked next to each other nearby. They say a man from one car opened fire at the other but instead hit the children. Both cars fled.

Police say one of the vehicles was carrying bags of marijuana.

The children were hospitalized. The boy was treated and released. The girl's condition is unknown.

Police have taken two men into custody. Their names haven't been released.
