18-Wheeler Knocks Down Power Lines in Southlake

Authorities said an area in Southlake lost power for hours after an 18-wheeler crashed into two power poles Monday afternoon.

Police said the 18-wheeler carrying an oversized load was heading east on Farm-to-Market Road 1709 when it struck the poles between Kimball Avenue and Village Center Road at about 3 p.m.

The 18-wheeler driver was not injured in the crash.

Power lines were down across FM 1709 for several hours Monday. Nearly 1,800 customers had lost power.

Authorities said power was restored at about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday.
