Police are looking for a man who sexually abused a 12-year-old girl in Oak Cliff after offering her a ride in his truck.

Officers said the victim was walking in the 2000 block of West Commerce Street at Hampton Road when she was approached by a Hispanic male around 7:30 Tuesday night.

According to police, the man offered the child a ride and she accepted. The man then took the victim to a store in the 2700 block of Fort Worth Avenue and later to a parking lot in the 1700 block of Colorado Boulevard where he sexually abused the child.

“This is the first I’ve heard of something like this,” said Adam Smith.

Smith works at DG Auto at the corner of West Commerce and Hampton. He says he is shocked to hear the 12-year-old girl was picked up near his work.

“It’s not a common place for little kids to walk around,” said Smith. “But most people you see walking are walking to the bus stops.”

The man was driving a silver four-door truck with tinted windows, an orange radio inside and a rosary hanging from the rear view mirror.

He is described as approximately 30 years of age with a goatee and spiked hair. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark-colored bluejeans. The victim also noticed that the man had a twitch in his left eye.

If you have any information regarding the man or the vehicle, contact Detective Ramirez at 214-671-4217.
