1 dead, 3 seriously wounded after head-on crash: police

Police say a driver crashed into another vehicle head-on while trying to overtake a slow-moving car in rural Collin County Saturday afternoon.

According to a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman, troopers were called to a scene near Farm-to-Market Road 1138 and County Road 800 for a crash involving two vehicles at 2:40 p.m.

The driver of a Kia sedan driving south on FM-1138 struck a northbound Ford Escort, killing the driver, police said.

Three people inside the Kia were taken to Medical Center of Plano with serious injuries, according to the statement.

The crash is currently under investigation.[[328388051,L]]
