A car plummeted from a highway, crashed into a wall and killed one person Sunday evening, police say.
The crash happened at approximately 5:50 p.m. when highway patrol troopers were called to the scene below Sam Rayburn Tollway on Denton Tap Road in Coppell.
According to police, a Chevrolet Camaro was traveling north on the tollway when it fell off the highway onto Denton Tap Road. The Camaro continued across all eight lanes of Denton Tap Road before crashing into a retaining wall, bursting into flames, police said.
One person was confirmed dead at the scene.
Northbound lanes of Denton Tap Road were closed under the Tollway's overpass as investigators processed the scene. No other injuries were reported.
