A sport utility vehicle driven by a 74-year-old woman smashed into the front of a southeast Houston supermarket, killing one customer and injuring six other people.
The crash happened at 1:40 p.m. Monday at the H-E-B supermarket at Houston's Gulfgate Center.
Police spokesman Kese Smith says the woman had put her SUV in reverse to back from a handicapped parking spot. It's not clear why the vehicle crashed into the supermarket.
Smith said the two employees were treated for minor injuries at the scene. Five customers were transported to hospitals.
A 31-year-old woman died at a hospital, while her sister and 2-year-old daughter were being treated for minor injuries.
No conditions were available for the other two injured customers.
