1 Dead, 2 Arrested After Altercation Leads to Shooting, Standoff in Irving

One person is dead and two people were arrested after an altercation in Irving led to a deadly shooting and a standoff early Thursday morning, police say.

Police believe an altercation between former friends escalated into violence when one man allegedly shot another at about 12:30 a.m. in the 800 block of East 3rd Street, police said.

The injured man, whose name has not yet been released, was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas where he was pronounced deceased.

Police arrested a man at the scene, identified as Guillermo Lorenzo, and booked him into the Irving City Jail on a murder charge. His bond has not yet been set and it's not clear if he's obtained an attorney.

Police identified a second suspect in the shooting, Alex Munoz, who fled to Grand Prairie. After a standoff with police, SWAT officers convinced Munoz to surrender and he was arrested. Munoz is being held in the Irving City Jail on unrelated warrants.

Irving police said the investigation is ongoing; more details are expected to be released at a later date.
