Waco Police Say 2 Dead, 1 Wounded in Drug-Related Shootings

Police say a robbery suspect and a resident have been killed during drug-related gunfire at a Central Texas apartment.

Waco police say a second suspect was shot but survived and was being held without bond Wednesday on a capital murder charge. McLennan County jail records don't list an attorney for Garrett Marshall Gage, who was treated for a leg wound.

Police on Tuesday night responded to a 911 call about a robbery. Sgt. Patrick Swanton says two men forced their way into a Waco apartment and apparently tried to steal drugs from the residents.

Police say one of the suspects fatally shot a resident, 20-year-old Braeden Freeman. Swanton says another resident used a rifle to return fire, killing the gunman and wounding Gage.

Police didn't immediately identify the dead suspect.
