Autopsy Sheds New Light on Coppell Deaths

Autopsy reports show that Coppell Mayor Jayne Peters was several feet behind her daughter when she shot and killed the 19-year-old.

Records released Tuesday by the Dallas County medical examiner and Coppell police said Peters shot herself in the forehead sometime after killing her daughter, Corinne Peters.

Their bodies were found in their home earlier this month after Jayne Peters didn't show up for a Coppell City Council meeting.

The Dallas Morning News reports that the women didn't have alcohol or drugs in their systems when they died.

Jayne Peters did have two patches of the powerful painkiller fentanyl on her back, but the medical examiner's office found no evidence of the painkiller in her system.
