Texas Health, Blue Cross Reach Deal

The North Texas region's largest insurer and largest hospital system have reached an agreement on a new contract just two weeks before 1.3 million residents would have been forced to scramble for new doctors.

Details of the multi-year pact between Texas Health Resources and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas were not disclosed.

The Dallas Morning News reports that the Arlington-based hospital system and Richardson-based insurer took shots at each other as they neared a Dec. 31 deadline to sign a new contract covering reimbursement rates. The two sides have disagreed over who bears more blame for pricey health care.

Texas Health Resources has 24 hospitals and 18 outpatient facilities.
