4th Annual Plano Peanut Butter Drive Fights Hunger

The city collected 27,618 pounds of peanut butter in 2016

The City of Plano is asking for donations to help local families, as well as victims of Hurricane Harvey, who are in need of nutritious food.

The Mayor and City Council partnered with the North Texas Food Bank to organize the fourth annual Plano Peanut Butter Drive, which runs through September.

Regular-sized peanut butter jars can be donated at three drop-off locations:

• Davis Library, 7501-B Independence Pkwy.
• Plano Municipal Center, 1520 K Ave.
• Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center, 5801 W. Parker Rd.

The drive will help replenish the North Texas Food Bank warehouse with ready-to-eat food. Donations will go to evacuees and Plano families who are housing displaced family and friends impacted by Harvey.

The city collected 27,618 pounds of peanut butter in 2016. Their goal this year is to best 30,000 pounds.

One in five children in Collin County do not have access to affordable, nutritious food. In the Plano Independent School District, one in three elementary students are eligible for free and reduced lunch.
