Jason's Deli Dumps Corn Syrup

Jason's Deli Rolls Out New Menu

Jason's Deli is getting rid of high-fructose corn syrup in its recipes.

The Dallas Business Journal reports the Beaumont-based chain will eliminate the sugary ingredient when it rolls out a new menu of breads, dressings, desserts and other items.

"Even though this was an enormous undertaking as high-fructose corn syrup is pervasive in the food system, we found that removing HFCS actually makes the food taste better" says Rusty Coco, a co-owner and executive vice-president of Jason's.

"We're fighting the battle for real food, as the food industry has gotten addicted to cutting back on quality and cheapening products. Our aim is to serve the tastiest meals at the best prices."

Jason's operated 24 restaurants in the DFW area and 200 in 25 states.
