Don't Flush Those Drugs

If you are like most people, you have probably flushed unused or expired medication down the toilet. Or, you have thrown them in the trash because you aren't sure what to do with them.

Well the city of Denton wants to help since flushing those drugs can be bad for the environment and just throwing them away can be dangerous to your family or pets.

So why not turn them in? That's exactly what residents of Denton County are being encouraged to do.

The city, University of North Texas and waste management is holding it's first ever Drug Disposal Day.

On April 24, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., you can drop off your unused and expired drugs for proper disposal at the Professional Office Building, 3535 S. Interstate 35E in Denton.

Make sure you black out all the names, prescription number and other personal information on the containers before you hand them over.

The drugs will be collected, treated and disposed of for free. Items being collected include prescriptions, over-the-counter-drugs, powders, creams, liquids, inhalers and much more.

This is open to Denton County residents only.
