Musician Kevin Fowler Promotes Texas Water Conservation

Two state agencies have announced a "Take Care of Texas" campaign to promote water conservation and other environmental protections this summer.

Country-rock musician Kevin Fowler donated his time to the project by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Fowler's 30-second public service announcement video began airing across the state Tuesday.

The campaign promotes outdoor recreation while asking all Texans to conserve water and other natural resources as the state still struggles with drought.

The Texas Legislature also recently passed legislation to set up a $2 billion water development fund. Voters will make the final decision on the program in November.

Lawmakers also boosted spending for state parks, which should keep them open for the next two years.
