Vote for Me! A Gen Y Way to Find a Job

North Texas Credit Union seeks spokesperson in blogging contest

The presidential election between Sen. John McCain and Sen. Barack Obama is not the only high-stakes contest going on right now.

Another contest is under way in North Texas, and the Gen Y winner will get something more than a political office. The winner gets a hot new job representing a credit union, a new car, computer, video camera and a bunch of other goodies.

This is a contest -- an actual online election -- for who will be the "spokester" for a new Web site, MyLifeMyMoney.org.  The site is the creation of Resource One Credit Union, which is boldly going after young adults aged 18 through 34 (aka Generation Y) by offering a package of financial tools and products specifically designed to suit their needs.

The winner gets a new job to promote the young-minded credit union online and on college campuses across the state.

The contest is being condued by blog, and it is really a cool idea.

Could this be the next trend for companies seeking to find the most competitive employees?   Two finalists are currently slugging it out online. Bloggers will vote and decide the winner Friday.

The blogs of both contestants can be found at: Jamie and Jared.
