Airlines Try to Lure Travelers Out for the Fourth

For the Fourth of July, airlines are trying to lure travelers from their backyard barbecues

For the Fourth of July, airlines are trying to lure travelers from their backyard barbecues.

Airlines are offering flights to popular destination spots for cheap, said FareCompare.com's Rick Seaney.

NBCDFW.COM found round-trip flights to Orlando, Fla., for $208, Los Angeles for $350 and Washington, D.C. for $184.

Seaney said travelers should expect plenty of other passengers on the planes.

"They're going to be super-full," he said. "We're talking at least 90 percent occupancy on those planes and on many of them, maybe completely full."

But there are better deals available for the week after the fourth. FareCompare's Deal Finder showed flights to Miami and Las Vegas from DFW are going for less than $200. If you prefer a beach, Seaney showed a fare to Cancun, Mexico, for $274 round trip.

"Within the country, if you're paying more than $300, you're paying too much right now," Seaney said.

Seaney said he expects fares to go up in August.
