Trader Joes to Open Irving Distribution Center

Distribution center to employ about 200 people

Trader Joe's is planning two new locations in North Texas and is also opening a distribution center to serve area stores.

The company has leased a 729,000-square-foot building on Frye Road in Irving for a distribution center that is expected to employ more than 200 people.

Trader Joe's spokeswoman Alison Mochizuki said work will begin Friday to transform the warehouse into a grocery-distribution complex. The site is expected to open later this year

Hiring for the distribution center is expected to begin in about 90 days.

The grocer has stores open in Fort Worth, Plano, Houston and San Antonio and has two new locations planned for Dallas and one in Austin.
