Lottery Close to Record Losing Streak; Jackpot at $72M

Lotto Texas is on the verge of a record losing streak for players.  That means it might be a  good time to pick up some lottery tickets.

The estimated jackpot Wednesday night was $72 million.

The San Antonio Express-News reports if no one wins the jackpot it would be a record 48 straight drawings without anyone getting the big prize.

The last record was set with the previous Lotto Texas jackpot win on Oct. 21, which hit on the 48th drawing after a 47-draw dry spell.

Lottery Commission spokesman Bobby Heith said overall sales from Texas lottery games were $2.6 billion in 2000 and $3.7 billion last year.

Lotto Texas drawings are Wednesday and Saturday nights.
