Key Revenue Metric Climbs at Neiman, Bergdorf

Neiman Marcus Inc. said Thursday that revenue at its Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman stores open at least a year rose 12.7 percent in February.

This metric is a key gauge of a retailer's health because it excludes revenue from stores opened or closed during the year. Neiman Marcus' figure includes catalog and online sales.

Neiman Marcus said some of the strongest categories included designer handbags, precious jewelry, men's and women's clothing and shoes.

Sales growth was strongest in the West, Northeast and Texas.

At Neiman Marcus Direct, which includes online and catalog operations, the figure climbed 13.2 percent.

The privately held Dallas company said total revenue for the four weeks ended Feb. 26 climbed 12.9 percent to $282 million.

Neiman Marcus plans to report its second-quarter earnings on March 11.
