D/FW Airport CEO Gets $171,285 Bonus to $480,800 Salary

Airport committee says he deserves large bonus for exceeding goals

Sean Donohue, the top executive at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, was awarded a $171,285 bonus on Thursday after a committee determined he had exceeded goals set for 2017.

The bonus is on top of Donohue’s $480,800 yearly salary.

In addition, the committee approved a 3.2 percent increase in his salary next year, meaning he will earn $496,186 in 2018.

The airport uses a consultant to help set the CEO’s base pay and bonuses by comparing it to “similar organizations” with revenues between $500 million and $1 billion, said airport spokesman David Magana.

The airport met 118 percent of its goals set for 2017, Magana said.

A performance overview found strong growth at D/FW Airport during the past year.

The number of passengers hit a record 66.4 million, and international flights and cargo also increased.

Donohue became CEO in 2013. He manages 1,800 employees and a yearly budget of $900 million, according to his online biography.

According to a salary survey by the Texas Tribune, the top three highest-paid public officials in Texas are football coaches.

Texas A&M Coach Kevin Sumlin, who was fired by the university last month, is listed as the highest-paid official with a $5 million yearly salary.
