Can't Afford Mexico? Visit Arlington Instead

Six Flags, Cowboys Stadium, Bowling Museum are calling

Already making plans for spring break? Arlington wants you to avoid the airport and visit fun central, where the crowd goes wild.

"Historically, when spring break arrives, that's when Six Flags opens up and that's when the city kicks into high gear," said the Jay Burress, president and CEO of the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau. "Spring is in the air, and after the cold winter we've had, I think everybody is going to be ready to get out and do some fun things."

Six Flags Over Texas opens the weekend of March 6, and then daily for spring break between March 13-21. Cowboys Stadium will host the Pacquiao-Clottey fight March 13, and the International Bowling Campus just opened its doors last month.

"Seventy million bowlers in the United States, -- that's a lot of people to tap into, and it brings an entire industry, bowling, here as their headquarters and international bowling campus right here in Arlington," Burress said.

Now the Arlington CVB is hoping to lure more people to Arlington with free giveaways. Just by texting the word "spring" to 444-888 and answering a trivia question, visitors can win two-for-one admission to the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame

"Everybody has an opportunity to win," said Amy Polley, with the Hall of Fame. "Even though they don't necessarily get the trivia question right, they can come here and learn the right answer, and we'll still honor the promotion."
